The golden stool will be displayed in public in one of the rarest occasion, when the Ashanti kingdom celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The stool is said to hold the spirit of the Ashanti Kingdom.
The golden stool is a royal and divine stool, commanded from the sky by the famous priest of the Ashanti Kingdom, Komfo Anokye. The stool landed on the lap of the first Ashanti king, Osei Tutu.
The Golden Stool is a curved seat 46 cm high with a platform of 61 cm wide and 30 cm deep. The entire surface of the stool is laced with gold, and hung with bells to warn the king of impending danger. It has not been seen by many but only made accessible to the king and queen mother of the Ashanti Kingdom,
The rare public display will form part of a massive clean-up exercise to celebrate the king.
The Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II is expected to ride in palanquin with a huge traditional entourage.
The Manhyia palace and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) have teamed up to whip up public enthusiasm for next week's grand Akwasidae to climax the 15th anniversary of Otumfour Osei-Tutu II as the Asantehene.
At a media interaction in Kumasi, the two institutions expressed concern about what they say is low publicity given to the upcoming event.
Majority of the 87-member house of the KMA have said they are not aware of the exercise.
