The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Mike Hammah, has said the government needed commendation for bringing inflation down to a single digit. He noted that no government had been able to lower inflation to that level over the past 30 years.
The Minister said this in a speech read for him by Rev. Eldad Bonney, a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) during a day’s workshop for the members of the UEW branch of the Tertiary
Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Winneba on Saturday.
Mr Hammah said bringing down inflation would accelerate the growth of the nation’s economy. He urged the TEIN members to support the party in all their endeavours towards the achievement of the “Better Ghana” agenda. The Minister emphasised that TEIN had a role to play to ensure that people at the grassroots understand that politics is not about insults, attacks and fighting.
Mr James Fowu, Deputy National Youth Organizer of NDC who was the facilitator, told the students that they had a major role to play to move the party forward and urged the youth of the party to desist
from agitating for the removal of District Chief Executives.
Mr Charles Boakye, a lecture of UEW who chaired the programme, advised the students not to involve themselves in acts that would tarnish the image of the party.Mr John Naba Asibi, Chairman of TEIN, appealed to members to support the government to implement its development agenda.Source: GNA
