Aduana Stars ended their three-game winless run, beating Liberty Professionals 3-2 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Thursday.
It was their first of six outstanding Ghana Premier League games. Aduana's backlog of outstanding matches is down to their participation in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers.
Aduana dominated the opening exchanges and deservedly took the lead through Bright Agyei on 15 minutes. The striker delivered a fine finish after receiving a pass from Congolese international Oba Ikama Ulitch.
Ulitch doubled the lead in the 30th minute. But lanky midfielder Simon Zibo reduced the deficit for Liberty less than five minutes to halftime.
After recess, Yahaya Mohammed registered his fourth goal of the season to make it 3-1 for Aduana.
However, Liberty ensured a nail-biting finish when Brite Andoh scored a world-class strike.
The victory lifts Aduana from the 15th position and with five games in hand.
For Liberty, they remain unchanged at 13th spot with a point above the relegation zone.
