Concerned citizens of the Tano South Constituency will stage a demonstration today at Bechem in the Brong-Ahafo Region over series of allegations levelled against the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw, in recent times. According to a statement by the group, they find the allegations as calculated attempts to tarnish the image of the hard working deputy minister who had done a lot to bring development to the people in the area. According to the group, since the deputy minister declared her intention to become the MP for the area on the NDC ticket, her detractors had sought to bring her integrity to disrepute. The statement was signed by Mr Kwame Frimpong, secretary to the group and Mr Amponsah Kusi, NDC constituency secretary. The group said as citizens of Tano South, they knew how Dr Bisiw was helping them to achieve their development aspirations. They would, therefore, not sit down for any selfish group of people or individuals to use the media to disrupt the deputy minister’s plans to assist President Mills to achieve his “Better Ghana Agenda”. In view of this, the group said that “we the citizens would do everything possible to protect the deputy minister and encourage her to continue the good works she is doing.” The Daily Guide recently reported that the Deputy Minister, Dr Hanna Bisiw, had been using “Juju” on all the ministers posted to the ministry not to function well so that she becomes the substantive minister. The Daily Searchlight also alleged that the aspiring Tano South M.P. had used state funds to put up a multibillion NDC party office for the constituency. A section of the media have also accused the deputy minister of abuse of office and building a multibillion mansion at her hometown, Techimatia. “We the concerned citizens who reside in the constituency can boldly say that all these allegations are not true and have warned the people behind the publications to put a stop to them”. What baffle the group most are the recent allegations that Dr Hanna Bisiw was financing the Bechmen United Football Club. “But the few questions we are asking are: is it wrong for her to support the sporting activities in the area? Would it not be prudent for citizens of good standing in the society to use their positions to bring development to where they come from?” the statement asked. “We believe that Dr Hanna Bisiw should rather be commended for ensuring that the people in Tano South experience the “Better Ghana Agenda” instead of condemning her for a good job done”, the group pointed out in the statement.
