Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has called for patience from residents affected by ongoing water shortages, assuring them that swift measures are being taken to address the crisis.

The company has acknowledged the difficulties faced by communities and reiterated its commitment to restoring normal supply as soon as possible.

Several areas, including Tamale, Bimbilla, Kasoa, and Ho, have endured severe water shortages for weeks, significantly disrupting daily activities.

In Ho, the situation has become particularly dire, placing immense pressure on essential institutions such as hospitals and prisons, which have been forced to seek alternative sources of water to maintain operations.

Speaking to Channel One TV’s Adwoa Tenkorama, GWL Communications Manager Stanley Martey reassured residents that efforts were underway to resolve the crisis.

He specifically promised that the water supply in Ho would stabilise within a week, adding that the company was working tirelessly to normalise the situation across all affected areas.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused, but as we have stated, we are working around the clock to restore supply. By the end of the week, we expect the situation to improve within the municipality," he stated.

He further revealed that a spare water pump had been treated and was on standby, with another expected to be installed by Thursday.

"Having two standby pumps will serve as a short-term solution to this challenge," he added.

Mr Martey also warned against water theft, stressing that such actions worsen the crisis for other residents.

"We urge people to refrain from stealing water so that the limited supply can be distributed fairly. This will ensure that as many residents as possible have access to water and can sustain themselves during this difficult period," he advised.
