Harlequin International Ghana, has opened a $23 million fabrication, hydraulic and engineering facility at Takoradi in the Western Region.
The facility, which will provide services to the oil and gas sub-sector, has the state of the art modern equipment well as internationally trained Ghanaians and power backup systems, to deliver quality services to the sector.
It has well equipped individual setups for the fabrication, hydraulic and engineering departments.
The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, inaugurated the multimillion facility recently at Takoradi on behalf of the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Prof. Frimpong Boateng in his remark acknowledged, the project forms part of the government’s determination and commitment to accelerating the participation of local companies in the oil and gas industry.
The inauguration also marked the 20thanniversary of Harlequin.
A community Library was also commissioned for the community of Ewusiejoe were the facility as part of Harlequin’s social corporate responsibility.
Harlequin International started modestly in Tema 20 years ago on September 12, 1998, with the provision of only engineering services, but has grown steadily into a full spectrum manufacturing and support services provider to major industries in the Oil and Gas sector covering fabrication, engineering and hydraulics.
The company presently employs over a hundred Ghanaians and invests in their training both locally and internationally, to bring them up to international standards.
It is regarded as an example of a local Ghanaian company that is providing local content services to this sub-sector and saving the country millions of Cedis that would otherwise have to be spent on importing the same services.
Harlequin is compliant with ISO 18000 and ISO 45001 as well as quality compliance with ISO 9000 – 2015 and an excellent on-time delivery record.
All the company’s active operations are being run from locally with the completion of Takoradi office while the Tema office is now the administrative head office.
