The Chancellor of Heritage Christian University, Dr James Asare Adjei, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing graduates who are both academically proficient and entrepreneurially skilled to address the growing issue of youth unemployment in Ghana.
Speaking at his investiture ceremony in Accra, Dr Adjei described the rising unemployment among young people as a worrying trend.
He emphasised that Heritage Christian University differentiates itself by equipping students with the practical and industrial skills required to succeed in various sectors.
“The Heritage Christian University has embedded entrepreneurship throughout our curriculum. We are no longer just training leaders or graduates for the job market; we are also preparing students to apply their skills and start their own businesses,” he stated.
Dr Adjei, who is also the Chief Executive of Asadtek Roofing Limited, outlined plans to establish a 1,000-acre university farm to promote agriculture, which he described as the backbone of Ghana’s economy.
He stressed that this initiative would serve as a platform for agro-processing enterprises, innovation, and job creation.
“This is our commitment to establishing agro-processing enterprises. Agriculture holds enormous potential for employment, innovation, and national development,” he added.
He also assured that his leadership would prioritise collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure the university’s growth and advancement.
After a decade of excellence, Heritage Christian University celebrated a major milestone by installing its first Chancellor at the Boateng Auditorium.
Despite the challenges that faith-based institutions often face, the university continues to stand firm in its mission to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
