A High Court in Sekondi has lifted the injunction placed on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.
The injunction had previously barred Madam Cudjoe from contesting in the upcoming parliamentary election.
Today’s ruling follows an earlier adjournment of the case, in which the NDC requested that the court lift the injunction on its candidate and dismiss the substantive disqualification.
This came weeks after the dismissal of an earlier application by an Accra High Court, in which the NDC sought to restrain the EC from printing ballots and the notice of poll, in defense of Cudjoe’s eligibility.
The latest development means the Commission can go ahead to print ballot papers and logistics with the inclusion of Joana Cudjoe's name.
Following the court proceedings, Edudzi Tamakloe, the lawyer representing the first defendant, encouraged the EC to comply with the court's directive.

"We are very pleased and we want to thank the court. The EC representative was in court, he is aware the court has vacated the injunction. Now that the injunction has been vacated, Madam Jean Mensa should do the right thing,” he said.

After the court proceedings, Joana Gyan Cudjoe expressed joy, feeling relieved that a burden had been lifted.
She also encouraged her supporters to intensify their campaigning efforts to ensure her victory on December 7.
"I’m incredibly grateful. I thank God and the party for stepping in to support me today. I’m coming home, and we’re going to prepare for our campaign," she said.
