The Royal Cosy Hills Hotel (Jirapa Dubai) has donated hand washing equipment and other materials worth ¢120,000 to the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council to help in the fight against the novel coronavirus disease.
The items included 160 Veronica buckets, 100 Veronica buckets stands, 83 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizer; 294 gallons of liquid soap, 96 jumbo size tissue paper rolls; six pull-up banners, 1,500 posters and 10,000 fliers.

Mr Charles Dwamena, the Project Engineer at the Jirapa Dubai, who handed over the items, noted that the donation formed part of the Corporate Social Responsibility, (CSR) of the organisation to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic in the Region and the country at large.
He explained that access to credible information on the virus was a key component of the fight against the pandemic, hence the need for the organisation to include banners and fliers to provide Covid-19 information to the public.
Mr Dwamena entreated the general public to observe the Covid-19 preventive measures, saying “it is better to prevent than to cure”.
Receiving the items, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, commended the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel for contributing to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the Region and the country in general.
He said there was the need for concerted efforts of all individuals and organisations in the fight against the deadly virus if the country was to win the battle against it.
“Since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country, government has demonstrated true leadership by spearheading the fight against the virus.
"But the government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities, so we are appealing to all and sundry to support in the fight,” Dr Salih said.
He explained that the items would be distributed among the various districts and municipal assemblies in the Region to aid them in the fight against the pandemic in their respective localities.
The Regional Minister noted that stigmatisation against victims of the Covid-19 was detrimental to the fight against the disease.
Dr Salih, therefore, called on the general public to desist from the act and to “show love and affection to the Covid-19 victims” to help in the fight.
