NPP parliamentary aspirant for Ayensuano, Mark Okraku Mantey, says his political ambition is mainly to provide the people of his constituency with quality leadership.

According to him, the previous NPP MP for Ayensuano had failed to adequately communicate the achievements of the NPP in the area and in the region as a whole, and had also failed to address the constituency’s challenges.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, the deputy tourism minister, noted that the major crisis in Ayensuano was one of leadership, and he is geared up to deliver the quality leadership the people need.

“After election 2020, I wanted to engage my MP who lost the seat to find out why and where we went wron. He was not forthcoming with information. We still wanted to support but at a point in time when I still used to work with you at Multimedia there were some young men who used to come around to come and tell me that I must begin to consider Ayensuano.

“At the time I wasn’t too serious about it, I didn’t see myself fronting. So when we lost in 2020 and my engagement with the MP, I noticed that the PR wasn’t too good, I noticed that the constituency had a challenge but this time of leader. And so my people wanted me to come onboard,” he said.

He added that the ultimate reason for him to finally contest for the Ayensuano seat was because he was called upon by indigenes of the area to lead them.

He noted that he accepted the challenge after thoroughly weighing his strengths against his weaknesses and realising he was a good fit for the post.

“Most of the time, I am not surprised when I heard Jefferson saying that he didn’t get people calling him to come onboard, but most of the people in parliament it is the people who will call you and tell you that ‘we think we need you to come and do this for us’ and so I was called, motivated, influenced by some people in the constituency. I did my own SWOT analysis whether I have enough energy to go forward. It is not easy to take this decision, it is not,” he said.
