The Municipal Chief Executive of Krachi West Municipality is urging persons with disabilities (PWDs) to stop making excuses.
According to Mr. Douglas Osei Nti, although he is disabled, he has never allowed it to stop him from working hard or aiming for more in life.
Speaking during the presentation of items to some 64 persons with disabilities in the municipality by the assembly, the MCE said the initiative forms part of the government's efforts to make living with disability more bearable.

Handing over the items, Mr. Douglas Osei Nti urged the beneficiaries to put them to good use so that they can be able to take care of their families and themselves.
"Look at me, I am disabled but it did not stop me from becoming what I am today and I urge all of you to put your physical disabilities behind you and work hard," he said.

Mr, Osei Nti mentioned that in 2018; a year after he took office as DCE for the area, some 55 persons were supported and this is the second batch making a total of 119 since 2017.

According to him, another set of people will be given their items before the Christmas holidays.

The DCE however cautioned the beneficiaries to take good care of the items, and not be tempted to sell them.
These items included deep freezers, shoe making machines, assorted provisions, corn mill machines among others.

On his part, Nana Ofosu Appiah who is the Chief of Motodua and Twafohene of Krachi Traditional Area urged the beneficiaries to remain law-abiding citizens, while utilizing their items.

Speaking to JoyNews, the Social Welfare Officer, Benjamin Attipoe said the items were to address specific needs of the beneficiaries.
According to him, a team from his department visited all the selected beneficiaries to ask for their input before the items were purchased by the assembly.
