World Athletics president, Sebastian Coe, has extended his best wishes to the new president of Ghana Athletics, Bawah Fuseini, as he takes over the governance of the sport in the West African country.
In a handwritten congratulatory letter on September 28, 2023, to Mr Fuseini, Coe said, "I am delighted we can count on your passion and expertise in helping the growth of our wonderful sport domestically and of course, globally."
Mr Fuseini was voted president of Ghana Athletics on August 10, 2023, at an Elective General Assembly in Techiman, nine days shy of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Following the conclusion of the event and the athletics season, World Athletics has welcomed him onto the presidency of athletics federations.
"I'm pleased to finally welcome you to the presidency of the national federation," Coe began.
"I am delighted we can count on your passion and expertise in helping the growth of our wonderful sport domestically and, of course, globally.
"I hope our paths can cross before too long. Until then, I send my kindest regards," the letter concluded.
Bawah Fuseini took over from Ababu Afelibiek and will lead Ghana Athletics for the next four years.
Meanwhile, Filipina Frimpong has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the athletics governing body.
