In the 12th episode of the famous all-male talk show dubbed ‘Bald, Muscled, Potbellied, and Skinny’ (BMPS) on Joy Prime, the topic of paternity tests brought forth interesting confessions and arguments among the panellists.
The guys had to share their honest opinions on the topic, ‘DNA dilemmas: The truth about paternity tests and why they matter.’
Poxieble, who represents the Skinny Men on the show, shared his thoughts, saying that the issue makes him fear marriage as compared to death.
“My fear is not death; my fear is marriage. I’m not scared of death because everybody is going to die eventually, but marriage…,” he said.
He added that his fear of marriage is because he dislikes the idea of divorce or doing something to extremely hurt his partner after living together for a long time.
For him, trust is a major challenge in his life, as he struggles to trust himself and talk less of another human, and so he would be a thorn in the flesh for whoever he would agree to marry, no matter how 'saint’ the person may be.
These statements sparked a spirited debate among the panellists. It reflected a deep-seated concern about the impact of paternity uncertainty on the institution of marriage, as well as a profound lack of trust in marital relationships.
But elaborating on his comment, Poxieble explained his reluctance to marry, fearing the potential of future divorce or causing harm to his partner. Additionally, he expressed a lack of self-trust in handling such situations.
According to him, “I don’t want to go into marriage and divorce or do something that is not healthy for the person I am with when I don’t trust myself, you may be good; you might even be an angel, but me, I may be the problem,” he told the other panellists.
He added that if he were to marry and later find out that he was not the biological father of their children, he would divorce but cohabit with his spouse to cater for the children.
But he will never let go of the pains his spouse may have caused him, as he would do to someone else as time passes.
Nevertheless, he advised that “as a man going into marriage, you should expect anything.”
The BMPS Show airs every Friday at 9 p.m. on Joy Prime with Kofi Hayford as the host, also representing the Potbellied, Nanye (Bald), Poxieble (Skinny), and Oliver representing Musled Men. Join them as they venture into even more captivating men-related topics.
