Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus, says he now has the opportunity to play the role he always wants following the appointment of John Heitinga as interim coach at Ajax.
The Ghanaian scored the only goal of the game in Ajax's Dutch Cup win over FC Twente on Thursday night as they progressed to the next round of the competition.
Under Heitinga, the Ghanaian has two goals and an assist since the dismissal of Alfred Schreuder as the club's gaffer.
The midfielder has also now assumed a new position with the former Dutch player positioning Kudus on the wings.
Speaking after the game, the 22-year-old said: "It's a new position for me, but the most important thing is that I get the freedom to play the way I want to play.
"The coach gives me that freedom. I don't feel restricted and [I] do my best for the team. It is a new position for me and therefore also good for my development. We also sometimes switch positions. That also makes us unpredictable as a team."
With his goal against Twente, Kudus has now scored 15 goals for club and country in the 2022/23 season with 13 coming for Ajax.
