Hearts of Oak head coach, Samuel Boadu, has revealed he told Sulley Muntari to find the back of the net prior to the encounter against WAFA.
Hearts hosted the Academy lads on Wednesday in their matchday 19 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the Phobians securing a 2-1 victory.
Muntari snatched all three points for the Rainbow club in the 76th minute of the game, converting from the penalty spot after Patrick Razak was brought down by the WAFA goalkeeper.
Speaking after the game, the Hearts gaffer said he had already had a conversation with the former Inter Milan midfielder about scoring his maiden goal for the club before their encounter against WAFA.
“I spoke to Sulley [Muntari] and told him to score a goal," Boadu said in his post-match presser.
"His input in the game, his passes and every work he puts in are good.
“I never expected Sulley Muntari to last longer in our games. “Against Kotoko, he played 80 minutes, against RTU he played 79 minutes.
“Sulley is less than a month into full scale training and as a player who has been absent from football for long, we thought he would be rusty.
“Sulley Muntari is too aggressive and disciplined on the field of play. “Every responsibility you give out to Sulley is well executed so for scoring today’s goal, I’m happy for him and I believe more goals will come.”
Hearts will look to further close the gap between themselves and Kotoko when they travel to Dormaa to face Aduana Stars over the weekend.
