South African High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E Grace Jeanet Mason has shared her appreciation for getting an invite and being able to present an award at the just-ended 23rd edition of the VGMAs.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, she expressed her appreciation to the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Honorable Mark Okraku-Mantey, for inviting her to the award ceremony and given the chance to present an award.
“I must thank the Deputy Minister for the invitation and after a hectic morning I was able to spend quality time with my son at the show,“ she said.
The diplomat also spoke about the creativity displayed under the program and the songs which inspired her to also share it with her son, which is a passion of hers to share creatives with the youth.
“Just the creativity and the music, I love music and I think that’s what inspired me and I was able to take my son to go and look at the creatives and that’s a passion that I have in reaching out to the youth,” she said.
Her Excellency presented the ‘Afrobeats Song of the Year’ plaque to S3FA and thanked the VGMAs for granting her the privilege.
“I must say I’m honoured given the opportunity to give out the award and I will also take this opportunity to congratulate the artiste for winning the award."
The ambassador also spoke about her mispronunciation of the song title “E Choke”, and how it made her trend over the weekend, giving her over 1,000 followers on her social media platforms.
H.E Grace Jeanet Mason is also hosting the Rainbow Nations Challenge Tennis Tournament from the 10th-12th of April at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.
The tournament consists of 22 countries and 56 players to network among the youth, and corporates from both Ghana and South Africa, and the proceeds of the tournaments will go to a scholarship for young female students.
