One of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirants for the Jaman South Constituency, Osahene Boakye Gyan, has said his campaign strategy will be to work to get President John Evans Atta Mills remain at the Castle and himself elected to represent the people of Jaman South in Parliament.
“In order for me not to become a lame duck MP, I am going to work to get Mills back to the Castle and myself in Parliament,” he told the Daily Graphic in an interview.
He said the game plan was up, especially now that the NDC executive in the Jaman South Constituency had given him the green light to contest the seat.
Conceding that the Jaman seat was normally won by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Osahene Boakye Gyan said the incumbent MP Mr. Yaw Maama Afful, contested on the assumption that the NPP would be re-elected.
“Unfortunately, infra¬structure development has suffered. As a result, Mr Afful has become a lame duck MP,” he said.
Osahene said his asso¬ciation with the Platform for Independent National Alternatives (PINA), a group committed to offer¬ing independent alterna¬tives to the main parties¬ and which sponsored him in the 2008 elections to vie for the Jaman South seat, had helped him objectively rethink his political stance which had enabled him to attain an objective view of the political environment.
He was of the view that if he had associated with the NPP after his key role in initiatives con¬tributing to the birth of the NDC, that would have been double standards.
