The Police in Wa are seeking advice from the Inspector General of Police on the possible prosecution of a police officer, Lance Corporal Mathew Quaye.Lance Corporal Quaye was arrested for keeping a rifle at home without authorization.He has since been released on a police enquiry bail pending advice from the IGP.Joy FM’s Upper West Regional Correspondent Rafik Salam reported that the cop signed for the weapon but left it at home and went to his duty post.When a colleague confronted Lance Corporal Quaye on why he was not carrying his weapon, he flared up.Mr Quaye later denied signing for a weapon but checks at the police armoury revealed he did.A search conducted at his residence revealed the rifle had been tucked between two mattresses. He was subsequently arrested and later released on police enquiry bail pending the decision of the IGP.Source: Joy News/Ghana
