Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has mounted a spirited defence of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, amid intensifying public criticism over a now-viral video featuring the pair.
The footage, which has stirred widespread debate, shows Mr Gyamfi handing over what appears to be a bundle of U.S. dollars to the controversial preacher.
The video has drawn sharp condemnation, particularly from the Minority in Parliament, who are demanding Mr Gyamfi’s immediate suspension on ethical grounds.
In response to the uproar, Nana Agradaa—formerly a fetish priestess but now a self-styled Christian evangelist—took to Instagram Live to share her concerns.
She declared that she could not bear the thought of her involvement jeopardising Mr Gyamfi’s professional standing.
“This is my mantle, my Bible, and my anointing oil. As a great woman of God, I say that I will set my church on fire if Sammy Gyamfi loses his job because of me. The Bible said we should do good to everybody; it did not discriminate when it said that. So, if Sammy Gyamfi gives me money, he deserves to do that,” she stated.
In the wake of the controversy, Mr Gyamfi reportedly met with the Chief of Staff on 12 May after being summoned to the Presidency.
Though the details of their meeting remain undisclosed, it is believed the session was convened to address public concerns and provide clarity on the nature of the incident.
The Chief of Staff is expected to brief President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently in Lomé, Togo, attending the African Union Debt Conference.
