The International Labour Organization (ILO) is supporting Small Business Enterprises in the Gomoa West District, with an amount of 40,000 dollars, for building the capacity of their members. The Gomoa West District Assembly would provide 10,000 dollars as counterpart funding for that purpose. Mr Kow Anyanful, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Production and Gainful Employment of the ILO Decent Work Project, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at a three-day workshop on financial and management for members of some business associations at Apam. The workshop is part of the capacity building programmes lined-up for business enterprises by ILO in some selected Districts in the country. Mr Anyanful advised Masters and Mistresses not to concentrate on only the transfer of skills to their apprentices but must also teach them about customer care. Mr Peter Antwi Boasiako, District Coordinating Director, urged the participants, selected from fish processors, vegetable farmers, tailors and dressmakers, hairdressers and beauticians to use the workshop to promote the development of the District. He urged them to use their services to attract people to the District. Mr Anthony Adu-Baffour of Genad Consult, the consultants of ILO, called on leaders to use the business to transform their lifestyles and those of their apprentices or workers. He urged them to create conditions which would enable workers to give off their best at all times. On customer care, Mr Adu-Baffour said it was important to treat all customers equally, saying that, even if they are of different backgrounds and temperament. Mrs Catherine Aformanor, a participant, commended the ILO for organizing the seminar, saying that, they did not only learn about business practices but also about how to care for the environment.
