Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has expressed strong confidence in the government’s early performance, declaring on Facebook that “so far, so great.”
In her post on Monday, 5 May, she highlighted rising approval ratings and a clear electoral mandate as reasons for optimism.
“I have been closely following the approval ratings of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, and like many Ghanaians, I am confident that we are on the right track,” she wrote.
Noting that the administration secured 57% of the popular vote, she observed that “120 days in, the signs of progress are undeniable.”
Ms Mogtari went on to outline the next critical step in sustaining public trust: the formal launch of a new Code of Conduct and Ethics.
“Today, President Mahama takes a bold step forward. He will formally launch the Code of Conduct and Ethics, which is a framework that will be binding on all public office holders, government officials, politically exposed persons and their close associates,” she announced, emphasising the need to eliminate conflicts of interest.
“At the heart of this policy is a ban on political appointees and their close associates from acquiring state assets,” she explained.
The Code, she added, “establishes clear enforcement mechanisms and unpacks the scope of this ban to ensure transparency and accountability.”
According to Ms Mogtari, the new framework sends “a clear and unambiguous message that there is no room for conflicts of interest” and reaffirms that public office “is a sacred trust and not a shortcut to personal wealth.”
