Aduana Stars head coach Yusif Abubakar says he is under no pressure to win the Ghana Premier League next season despite an excellent pre-season.
Abubakar has been at the helm for barely a month but the team has seen great improvement, evident in their performance in the GHALCA G6.
The Dormaa-based club have reached the semi-final of the mini competition as Group B winners with a 2-0 win over WA All Stars. They handed Hearts of Oak a 1-0 defeat in their opening match.
Their exploits thus far has seen pundits tip runners up of last season league to go for the ultimate when the new season start.
“I made them to understand and despite that they were second last season, I don’t think I have any pressure to make sure that because they were second I should be first this season. That doesn’t work in football,” Abubakar said.
“If I’m able to get to the first position at the end of the season, I like it.
”So it’s not always possible that if a team earn second in a season, they should be first in the following season.
“Last time somebody won the league in Ghana and this season a different person won it and that is football.
”I need to strengthen almost all the positions. I want to make sure that Aduana Stars is a round team.”
