Mr William Aboah, Minister of the Interior has urged members of the security agencies not to compromise their professionalism for political expediency while on polling monitoring duties.
He said they must reflect confidence and good knowledge of the election regulations and procedures to enable them take the right decisions.
Mr Aboah was addressing personnel under his Ministry as part of his visit to Ho to see the state of preparedness of the security agencies in the Volta Region towards the December 7 elections.
He said every officer whether in uniform or not has the powers of arrest and therefore could bring those who commit electoral offences to book.
Mr Aboah said it is unfortunate that unlike some other countries, the police in Ghana are always perceived as partisan.
Mr Kobby Acheampong, Deputy Minister of the Interior counselled the officers not to use unlawful means in their operations.
Mr Oscar Kofi Amevenku, Tongu Divisional Police Commander urged members of the security services to suppress their political biases.
As part of his visit Mr Aboah paid a courtesy call on Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Regional Minister and met with the Regional Election Task Force and officers of the Ghana Police Service.
