Ghanaian female high jumper Rose Yeboah says she is excited to be the country's first athlete to compete in the discipline at the Olympic Games.
Yeaboah is set to compete at her first Olympic Games after jumping 1.97m earlier this year at the NCAA in the United States to become the first Ghanaian woman to qualify for the sport.
The high number had been on a good trend this year and the Olympic Games qualification was an icing on the cake.
Last month, Yeboah retained the gold medal she won at the African Athletics Championship (AAC) in Mauritius in 2022 as she jumped a height of 1.87m to pick up another gold medal in Douala.
Speaking on Joy Sports Link on Saturday, she detailed her excitement ahead of competing at the Games which is five days away.
"Being the first Ghanaian female high jumper feels good," she said.
"I'm also happy about that because this is my first time getting onto a boat on water, so it feels like a great experience for me," she added as she talked about the concept of the opening ceremony.
Ghana's athletes have been training in Strasbourg as part of preparations for the competition and Yeboah says training has been great so far.
"Everything is going well and we're managing. Practice is also good as well…Anytime I'm going into a competition, I make sure I picture everything in my mind and get myself ready," she added.
Ghana will be competing in six different events at the 2024 Olympic Games.
