Joy Business journalist and on-air personality, Charles Ayitey, has been honoured with the "National Top 10 Business Journalists in Ghana" award at the maiden National Brands Innovation Forum and Awards Night.
The award was in honour of his remarkable strides and noteworthy success as a business journalist in Ghana.
Presenting the award, the Deputy Chief Executive, Services, Volta River Authority, Dr. Stella Agyenin-Boateng, commended Charles for his consistency in reporting and promoting businesses through his journalistic works.
“This is to say a big congratulations for your contributions, on-air and on the field, to the growth and resilience of the business community, especially the SME sector," she commended.
Charles Ayitey told fellow journalists at the forum “it is refreshing to note that Business Journalists are appreciated for their contributions to the community. I believe strategic business reporting does not just enlighten viewers and investors of the potential of Ghana's business community, but also pushes for more improvement - be in regulations or policy - in the ecosystem. And this is what my team Joy Business always strives to accomplish."
The National Brands Innovation Awards preceded the National Brands Innovation Forum which saw business leaders exchange information on the urgency of brand positioning amid, global economic trends and the set off of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Speaking at the event, Board Chairman of UBA Bank Ghana, Kwaku Andoh Awotwi, celebrated the awardees, charging them to use their brands to drive change and foster confidence in Ghana's business community.
“As you receive these awards tonight, it is imperative to realise that your personal brand is what actually attracted the honours. Be it in journalism or the corporate world. Using this brand to drive change, shape public opinion and foster investor confidence is very instrumental in the development of the country," he stated.
The awards dinner saw other journalists including Business Editor and Presenter with Media General (TV3), Alfred Ocancey, honoured.
Meanwhile, Zoomlion Ghana Limited emerged the overall best brand of the year with the Volta River Authority also adjudged the best service provider of the year in review. The event was themed; “Brands & the AfCFTA; Opportunities in Africa.”
