The Judicial Service Staff Association has called off its industrial strike after clinching a deal with government over the payment of reviewed salaries of its members.
"The strike is over", JUSAG President Alex Nartey announced at a press conference Wednesday morning. He said the Association has reached a "concrete consensus", an agreement which governments negotiation team explained to mean their consolidated salary will be paid them.
Going forward, the Judicial Council and a Presidential committee will be implementing recommendations proposed in June 2015.
"It is no longer necessary to be on strike", the JUSAG President said, effectively ends a 10-day strike which brought the administration of justice to a total halt, frutrating lawyers and their clients.
The strike which began May 20, was heavily criticised by government as illegal. Deputy Employment Minister, Baba Jamal who was part of government's negotiation team said the strike was an unfair attempt to put fear into a government that has an election to win.
