Outspoken Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin-Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, on Wednesday appeared at the national head­quarters of the New Patri­otic Party (NPP) to answer questions in relation to allegations he levelled against some national offi­cers of the party.

Mr Agyapong, who ini­tially vowed not to honour any invitation by the party, was there to meet members of the NPP's disciplinary committee armed with documents to prove his case.

The Committee is chaired by Most Rev Dr Samuel Asante- Antwi, former Member of the Council of State and Pre­siding Bishop of the Methodist Church.

The firebrand MP, also known as 'Akompreko', has accused some executives, including National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, of allegedly stealing motor­bikes he  donated to the party for the 2012 general elections - an alle­gation Jake has denied.

Bryan Acheampong, said to be an aide to Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey, also challenged Kennedy Agyapong to provide evi­dence to back his claim, after he was also cited in the affair.

Mr Acheampong, a defeated parliamentary can­didate in the Suhum con­stituency and Chief of Staff of Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, had earlier appeared before the committee.

But sources at the party's headquarters told DAILY GUIDE that Mr Agyapong, who has launched a personal cam­paign against the re-election of the current national offi­cers of the NPP, provided the Committee with evi­dence.

He was said to have pro­vided documentary evi­dence, including receipts of monies he had transferred into the party's coffers and bank statements.

Apart from that, the Assin-Central MP was said to have pictures of the said motorbikes, which had been parked at a certain location.

However, it was unclear when the executives of the party would be invited again by the Committee to respond to the allegations.

Sources say Mr Obetse­bi-Lamptey and Bryan Acheampong had earlier given their statements to the committee, which noticed some discrepancies in the submissions of the two.

It is unclear what sanctions would be imposed on the party Chairman and his aide if the allegations were established or what sanctions will be slapped on Kennedy Agyapong, if it is found that his accusa­tions were baseless.

Kennedy Agyapong and Bryan Acheampong had been throwing missiles on the airwaves, over the handling of NPP campaign cash, with accu­sations and counter-accusations, compelling the NPP's Council of Elders to issue a caveat, bar­ring the party's members from discussing issues of the party in public.

Members of the NPP disciplinary committee included former Defence Minister Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor and MP for Okere, Dan Kwaku Botwe.
