A circuit court at Aflao has remanded Agbeko Agbenyenu, a 28-year-old Kente weaver, for allegedly defiling an 18-month-old baby girl.
The plea of the accused was not taken and he will reappear before the court on November 30 this year.
The court heard that Agbenyenu and the victim lived in the same area at Nogokpo, in the Volta Region.
On August 13, this year, at about 1900 hours, the complainant asked her seven-year-old son to bath the baby girl.
The prosecution said Agbenyenu sent the boy on an errand and allegedly took the victim home, defiled her and brought her back to the house.
The court heard that the victim's mother found semen on the thighs of the baby girl and the following morning she bled profusely.
The complainant confronted the accused concerning the issue in the presence of a witness and Agbenyenu's mother but he denied knowledge of what happened to the baby.
According to prosecution, medical report confirmed that the victim's hymen had been broken.
