The Board of Directors of former Ghana Premier League side, Okwawu United FC has appointed renowned sports broadcast journalist, Kofi Asare Brako (KAB) popularly known as ‘Abatay’ and a member of the Multimedia group as the club’s Ambassador ahead of the club's middle league campaign.
According to a press release issued and signed by the Director of Communication and Marketing of the club, Charles Boahene;
“The Board of Directors of Okwawu United FC wishes to announce to our cherished Asaase Aban supporters and the general public that, per our quest to return the club to Ghana's elite league come 2014/15 football season, we have appointed Mr. Kofi Asare Brako (Abatay) as the club's "AMBASSADOR" for our middle league campaign dubbed "GET OKWAWU GO".
"I will try and give my best for this cause and look forward to the future where Okwawu United would come into the premier laegue and stay there for good," Kofi said.
Later last year the Multimedia sports presenter (Asempa FM), Kofi Asare Brako, was appointed by the renowned beverage company, Coca Cola as one of its ambassadors for the continent's FIFA World Cup trophy tour.
Kofi Asare Brako is a seasoned radio sports presenter whose career spans over 15 years in the sports broadcasting industry. He worked with Peace FM for nine years between 1999 and 2008 before joining Adom FM as a Senior Sports Broadcast Journalist where he has been till date.
At the moment he is the Sports Editor of Adom FM and Asempa FM, and also the host of the sports morning show Ultimate Show on Asempa FM on weekdays between 6am and 10am Thanks to his role as a sports presenter, Abatay has covered many international sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup twice in Germany and South Africa, the African Cup of Nations from 2000 till date, 2007 All African Games in Algeria, 2009 African Nations Championships in Cote D’Ivoire as well as the 2011 African Nations Championships in Sudan.
He has covered several international football assignments in the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden and Saudi Arabia involving the various national soccer teams. He has travelled to many African countries including South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Lybia, South Africa, Nigeria, Liberia, Kenya, Rwanda and Morocco to report on sporting activities.
Okwawu United have also appointed Coach Sarfo Castro as the Technical Adviser for the upcoming middle league competition. It is believed Castro's appointment would help Okwawu United FC position itself strategically to achieve its goals.
