Local Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu was pleased after his side secured a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso in GoTV WAFU Tournament at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Monday evening.
Goals from Godfred Saka and Captain Yahaya Mohammed ensured that Konadu's side finished the group campaign on six points, thus one point ahead of Benin, who could only draw 2-2 with Sierra Leone in the other group fixture at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
Konadu believes the credit for Ghana’s progression to the final should go to the players following their hard-fought victory over the Burkinabes.
“It was a very difficult match against a tough opponent,” Konadu said.
“We came into this match to win and Burkina Faso gave us a good run for our money.”
“I thank my players for fighting hard for this victory because they showed that in the face of difficulties they can rise to the occasion.”
Ghana will meet the winners of Group B in the final of the GoTV Wafu Cup on Thursday.
