The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kweku Agyemang Mensah has reportedly ordered the arrest of the owner of a warehouse near Kumasi, where the pungent odour from a chemical leakage is allegedly suffocating residents.
The scent is believed to be emanating from a chemical, dimethoate insecticide, which was recently transported to the K. Gyasi Farms located at Atwima Boko.
Reports say the pungent smell is spreading rapidly to several communities in the area.
Luv FM’s Erastus Donkor reported that residents are angry and disappointed in authorities there for what they say is their failure to protect them.
Erastus said voting in the affected areas on Friday could be hampered if the environment is not diffused immediately.
