The police in Kumasi are holding a pharmacy worker for murder after he allegedly administered an injection to a patient causing his death.
Kofi Edusei, 34, is reported to have administered hydrocortisone sodium and chloroquine to the patient who was suspected to be suffering from malaria.
Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor reported that the deceased person, Agyemang Prempeh, started behaving strangely shortly after the injection was administered to him at his residence in Asuoyeboah, in Kumasi.
He was then rushed to the Komfo Anokye Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
KATH officials quickly had the suspect arrested.
It was not the first time Edusei was administering the injection to the deceased person, Asare Donkor confirmed.
The suspect told investigators the deceased person was his friend and had on several occasions called on him to inject him anytime he was not feeling too well.
But this time, something went wrong and the patient died, necessitating the arrest of the pharmacist
The body of Agyemang Prempeh has been deposited at the KATH morgue awaiting autopsy.
Police found hydrocortisone sodium, empty crystalline penicillin, artemether 20mg sachet, chloroquine, hydrocortisone cream, syringes, and 10millitres sterilised water at the residence of the suspect.
He is likely to be arraigned before court on Friday.
