Ghana Premier League club, Legon Cities, have announced the demise of goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey.
The 26-year-old passed on at the Elubo Hospital after he was rushed there following complaints of illness.
A club statement on Tuesday said: “It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of our goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey.
“Sackey has been with us the last four seasons and was our first-choice goalkeeper for a greater part of the last two seasons.
“His demise is a big blow to everyone associated with the club. Our hearts & thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time.”
The club said it is in contact with the family and will announce their next line of action after communicating with the family.
The Ghana Football Association, Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak and the sporting world have been paying tributes to the fallen Sylvester Sackey.
