Leicester defender Wesley Fofana has confirmed he suffered a broken leg during their pre-season friendly against Villarreal.
The centre-back, 20, was caught by a reckless challenge from Fer Nino and had to leave the pitch on a stretcher.
"It is a bad day today but I am in a tremendous club with a wonderful medical team," he posted on Instagram.
"I will give you news as a soon as I have a final diagnosis but we already know that I have a fibula fracture."
Fofana was voted Leicester's young player of the season in 2020-21 after a fantastic first year in the Premier League.
Caglar Soyuncu, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez scored for the Foxes in the 3-2 friendly win.
The FA Cup winners play Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday at 17:15 BST.
