Dear comrades of the NPP fraternity,

As our great party goes into a crucial poll this weekend to elect who would lead us into the next national election, men and women of this rich political tradition are being called upon to stand up once again to demonstrate the peace-loving party that we are and justify why the good people of this country should give us the mantle of leadership again.

We are all witnesses to the high level of government-led corruption and broad day thievery spearheaded by the current NDC administration that has brought these untold hardships on the ordinary Ghanaian.

We need not be told about the gross mismanagement that this John Mahama-led administration has attached to our national economy. But ladies and gentlemen of the NPP family, let’s not be deceived into thinking that alone could win us an election. If that were the case, we would have won the 2012 polls with cheeky ease knowing the unprecedented levels of corruption and sheer economic mismanagement that this same NDC that ended up winning got itself embroiled in.

This Saturday we would be lining up to choose from three distinguished members of our tradition; Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, Francis Adai Nimo and Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng.

We should really be proud that our party is blessed with such an array of outstanding men who have shown excellence both in politics and in their professional life.

My message particularly goes to the youth, not only because they form the majority of our party’s population but also because it’s a strategic segment of this party and having served as youth organizer in the Central Region, I know how vulnerable we could be to forces who do not wish us well as party.

Saturday’s contest is the one of the many steps we are taking towards the 2016 elections. I think we can win that election. Ghanaians have weighed our leadership in eight years that lifted our economy from a HIPC status to a lower-middle income level, lifting several people out of extreme poverty. They have also had a feel of the abysmal performance of the current administration and are reasonable enough to make the difference.

Let us not allow our support for any of the three candidates blind us from seeing the bigger battle ahead. After Saturday, we would need every member of our party, young and old, haves and have-nots to contribute to our win.

I am urging my fellow youth to keep our eyes on the price- there’s no reason having your candidate win on Saturday and have our entire party lose in December, 2016.

Let’s respect our party’s leadership. We have elected them to steer us into power and we all believe in their capability to do so that is why we voted them.

I am also urging Members of Parliament on the ticket of  NPP not to be drowned in the current internal politics that is going on as the factions we create today with these alignments would come back to haunt us in 2016. I have been a Youth Organizer in the Central Region and I know how badly factionalism from our MPs cost us in 2012. We can’t afford to repeat them.

The future of our party depends on whether we win 2016 or not, but most importantly it depends on how we come out of Saturday’s contest.

One person would win on Saturday but at the end of the day, we would all have won. Let’s stay focused and channel our energies and resources into a convincing win for the NPP and the majority of Ghanaians who want to see a refreshing change come 2016.
