Liberty Professionals bid farewell to their head coach Sellas Tetteh in grand style when they beat Real Tamale United (RTU) 2-0 in their Week 20 Glo Premier League clash on Saturday at the Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman, Accra.
Coach Tetteh who sealed a two-year contract to handle the Amavubi Stars of Rwanda beginning next month was not on the Liberty bench as he watched probably his last game with the Club before leaving for his new job by the close of the week.
George Lamptey who deputizes for the former Black Satellites trainer took charge and guided the "Scientific Soccer Lads" to a performance that will give Tetteh little headache as he leaves for the new challenge in Central Africa.
It was RTU who settled quickly in the game as they gave a strong indication of their readiness to carry the maximum points to their base.
They however failed to really threaten the Liberty defence despite the dominance in ball possession.
Slippery striker Latif Salifu struck the opener with a low shot around the visitors' penalty area after teasing out his marker Gabriel Boateng.
RTU resumed the second half on the same tempo, compelling many to believe that the equalizer will soon come, however, Liberty crushed their hopes with the second goal on 56 minutes after Isaac Donkor's effort deflected off RTU's Odame Ampomah into the net.
The 'Pride of the North' lifted their game with substitute Baba Iddi, Yusif Aziz and Karim Sadat leading several raids into the Liberty half, but the finishing was always their bane and undoing.
Liberty's striker Salifu was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the match.
