The sitting for a Parliamentary committee probing an alleged plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP) is continuing this morning.
This is Day 4 of the public sitting which started on Monday, August 28, 2023, with former NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu.
The subject is a leaked audio in which police officers were heard conspiring to find a replacement for the current IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
The three police officers supposedly linked to the tape have been invited to assist the Ad-hoc committee's probe.
On Thursday, three police officers testified before the committee including Supt Emmanuel Gyebi who took the stand first.
He was followed by COP George Alex Mensah who expressed reservations about the IGP's action which says will not augur well for the service as a whole.
COP Mensah is a former Director-General, Technical, of the Ghana Police Service.
His voice was heard on the secret recording telling Bugri Naabu about how IGP Dampare's action may cause the loss of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election.
Today, Supt George Asare who Bugri Naabu said recommended COP George Alex Mensah to him as IGP starts his testimony.
