Latest information reaching Myjoyonline indicates that popular actress Grace Omaboe would soon be dragged to court to respond to a charge of exposing a child to harm.
The Attorney-General’s Department is said to have recommended that Madam Omaboe be prosecuted after studying a docket prepared by the police on an alleged child abuse at her Peace and Love Orphanage in Accra.
The orphanage was closed down last February following allegations that an eight-year-old boy had sodomised a six-month-old baby there.
Madam Omaboe is said to have been out of the country when the incident happened but police sources say she must be held responsible as manager of the orphanage.
Joy FM reports indicate that Madam Omaboe, as well as some caretakers from the orphanage, have been informed of the charges on Thursday afternoon.
The former loyalist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused some top guns of the ruling party of masterminding what she has described as political persecution.
Madam Omaboe crossed carpets to the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the heat of the 2008 general elections.
Her switch of camps generated headlines and triggered a negative backlash from members of the NDC who accused her of maligning the party.
