Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress Bernard Allotey Jacobs says President Mahama's choice of Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as running mate would secure a win for the party in 2016.
President Mahama on Monday, December 7, 2015 informed the National Executive Council (NEC) of his decision to retain Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as his running mate.
"I consulted with the council of state and nominated Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, my Vice President as my running mate. Reason being he is able and willing to do the job. He’s got a good track record, he’s been deputy minister, he’s been governor of the Central Bank, he’s been my Vice President, indeed he’s been acting president on occasions I’ve been out of the country. I believe that it’s been a useful partnership. We went into 2012 together, and I believe that going into 2016 together we will achieve victory,” the President had said.
Commenting on President Mahama’s choice of Amissah-Arthur as his Running Mate for the 2016 elections, Allotey Jacobs described the duo as a perfect match for victory.
“That is the beginning and the end; alpha and omega team which is perfect for us. I wasn’t surprise at all because the two of them harmonize; Amissah-Arthur is the submarine type who approaches issues softly but effectively,” he said.
He said President Mahama’s choice of Amissah-Arthur was an honor to the people of Central Region.
He has called on every ardent member of the NDC to be happy with the President choice of running mate.
