President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to play a crucial role in advancing the government’s 'Reset Agenda' on the international front.

He described it as a bold and transformative vision aimed at restoring national confidence and positioning Ghana for sustainable growth.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of 15 ambassadors, high commissioners, and consuls general at the Jubilee House on Thursday, September 4, Mr Mahama laid out the essence of his administration’s blueprint for renewal.

“Distinguished envoys, the Reset Agenda is this administration’s blueprint – a bold vision to restore hope in our people and to rebuild trust and rekindle the movement toward prosperity. It seeks to re-anchor our integrity, transparency and inclusive development governance,” he said.

While the core of the agenda is to be driven domestically, the President emphasised the critical role of Ghana’s diplomatic corps in extending its reach abroad.

He urged the envoys to actively seek out strategic partnerships, unlock economic and development opportunities, and strengthen Ghana’s engagement with the global community.

“While much of this work will be driven domestically,” he added, “your role is to extend this agenda abroad by cultivating strategic partnerships, unlocking opportunities, and deepening Ghana’s place in the global community.”

Mr Mahama also reaffirmed Ghana’s longstanding foreign policy principles, reminding the appointees that their work must reflect the nation’s commitment to values that have defined its international stance for decades.

“Our foreign policies have always been anchored on enduring principles – Pan-Africanism, peaceful co-existence, self-determination, and the pursuit of justice and equity in world affairs,” said Mr Mahama.

The President encouraged the envoys to lead with these ideals at the forefront of their missions, ensuring that the nation remains a respected voice in global diplomacy and a reliable partner in regional and international cooperation.
