Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has assured international investors that President John Dramani Mahama is firmly committed to restoring confidence in the country’s upstream petroleum sector.
He gave the assurance during a meeting with executives of Chevron International Exploration and Production Limited at the African Energy Week in Cape Town.
Mr Jinapor emphasised that Ghana is pursuing policies that guarantee transparency, stability, and accountability to attract long-term investment.
“President Mahama remains unwavering in his resolve to restore confidence in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector through sound policies and a clear regulatory framework,” the minister said.
The discussions with Chevron, led by the company’s Director of Commercial, Chris Jablonski, centred on natural gas as a central pillar of Ghana’s energy transition.
Mr Jinapor underscored the government’s goal of reducing dependence on liquid fossil fuels by prioritising natural gas as a cleaner, more cost-effective, and efficient energy source.
“Gas will play a defining role in shaping Ghana’s energy future,” he noted.
Chevron’s delegation included senior executives Gavin Lewis, Mamadou Blondin, and Chris Fordham.
Both parties expressed optimism about strengthening partnerships to boost Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry, support the country’s energy transition, and accelerate long-term economic growth.
