Adamu Dramani Sakande, the presently incarcerated Member of Parliament for Bawku, is likely to receive presidential pardon according to Alhaji Bature.
The Al Hajj newspaper editor told Metro News that the pardon is expected to be granted on health and humanitarian grounds.
The Bawku MP, who is serving a two year sentence on three counts of perjury, false declaration and deceit of a public officer has been terminally ill ever since his sentencing. He contested the Bawku seat even though he had not conclusively denounced his UK Citizenship.
According to reports, Adamu Sakande's health has deteriorated since his imprisonment. The report also says the Bawku MP has been receiving constant medical attention for his ailing health.
The President is expected to exercise his prerogative of mercy during the Christmas season and Sakande is a likely candidate to benefit, Bature noted.
The office of the President has not responded to attempts to confirm the report.
