Spanish side Malaga are moving for Spartak Moscow's Ghana international Quincy Owusu-Abeyie before the winter transfer window shut on 31 January.
The former Arsenal and Birmingham City midfielder has been linked with a return to England this month.
However, AS says Malaga have opened talks with Quincy's representatives about a move to Spain before the January market closes.
Owusu-Abeyie played for Celta Vigo on loan from his Russian employers during the 2007/2008 season in the Segunda Liga.
Malaga are struggling this term in the Spanish top flight as they lie two places above the relegation mark by superior goal difference.
