A young man believed to be in his mid-20s, identified only as Bright and popularly known as "Cemetery," has been beaten to death by unknown assailants at Cocoa Ase, a suburb of Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.
According to the Assembly Member for the area, Daniel Afriyie, he received a distress call around 0400 hours informing him of the incident and promptly reported the matter to the police for action.
Though the exact motive behind the attack remains unclear, some community members alleged the victim was accused of stealing scrap materials.
Eyewitnesses say the mob chased him from the Praso Railway area to Bankyease, where he was stripped naked and subjected to a vicious beating.
Meanwhile, some of the community members have raised concerns over the circumstances of the killing, questioning whether any proof of theft was established before the lynching.
They are calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
