A 50 year old man, Abubakar Alhassan, has been sentenced by a Yendi Circuit Court to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour.
The man defiled a 5 year old girl in Bimbilla in the Northern Region.
He is said to have defiled the little girl when she came over to his house to play with his daughter.
The little girl confessed after her parents noticed some changes in her, but Alhassan denied the act, accusing a neighbour.
However, the little girl pointed to him as her abuser during an identification parade.
Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Northern Police Command, told Joy News the convict placed the girl on his lap enabling him to penetrate her.
He said Abubakar Alhassan pleaded guilty and was sentenced accordingly.
