The Police Service, in collaboration with the Ghana Gold Board, has launched a manhunt for four individuals accused of engaging in illegal gold smuggling.
The suspects have been identified as Abdul Karim, Sadique Abubakar, Muhammed Afsal Puth Puthalan, and Muhammed Nandoli Rafeeq.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, told journalists at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, September 16, that the four are part of a seven-member syndicate involved in the illicit trade.
“We have an arrest warrant for all of them; they are wanted by the police and the GoldBod. If you have any information about them, you can report to the nearest police station or the GoldBod head office," he said.
He revealed that three members of the group have already been arrested and are currently in the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Mr. Gyamfi further announced that a GH₵1 million bounty has been placed on each of the four suspects who remain at large.
"We have a bounty of GH₵1 million on each of them,” he added.
