Mariam Eliasu has launched Porter Path: From Load to Grace, a book and social initiative inspired by her journey from street porter to advocate for the vulnerable.
The story of Mariam Eliasu not only inspires hope for the socially disadvantaged and people living on the streets, but also challenges the privileged in society to extend support to those whose futures still hold great promise.
At the age of 18, Mariam left her family in northern Ghana for Accra in search of work. She needed to survive while pursuing her education and chose a difficult path rather than compromise her moral standards.
For more than five years, she carried loads for people daily, earning stipends for her services. She saved part of her earnings while using the rest to fund her education and basic needs.
Drawing from these experiences, Mariam wrote Porter Path: From Load to Grace. In partnership with Relevant Achievers Impacting Nations, RAIN Foundation, the Porter Path Foundation has also been established to address shelter needs and promote decent living conditions for porters and vulnerable people living on the streets.
Both the book and the Porter Path Foundation are expected to be officially launched in parts of Africa, Europe, America, the Caribbean and the Middle East in 2026.
Updates will follow on this vision, which aims to offer hope, empowerment and a more dignified future for the socially disadvantaged.
