Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) boss, Stephen Amoah has welcomed calls for a probe into Centre's alleged disbursement of funds.
He denied the Minority's claims that he and his deputy disbursed public funds to party supporters during the party's parliamentary primaries in June.
In an interview on Joy Fm's Newsnite, Mr Amoah who is the governing NPP's parliamentary candidate for Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti Region believes the Minority is only seeking to tarnish his reputation.
“I think sometimes we should avoid making intellectual dishonesty overrule good intentions and integrity.
"People should have proper information, proper data processed into good information before they out there and try to muddy issues as well as muddy the reputations of other people," he said.
His comments come after Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu called for a parliamentary probe into how the CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and his deputy allegedly disbursed public funds in car booths and on tabletops to New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters at the just ended primaries.
Mr. Iddrisu indicated that the manner in which the funds were disbursed is unacceptable, therefore, Mr. Amoah and his deputy must be brought before the Parliamentary Committee on Finance for questioning.
But Mr. Amoah says he did not distribute any monies in his constituency although he admitted that it happened at Yendi where his deputy stood for the primaries.
"Is it outside the annual calendar, is it wrong? If people would have to be given their monies, are they not Ghanaians? Do we have specific times that we should disburse monies to people," he queried.
He, however, indicated that the Centre's inability to recover loans is due to the Covid-19 pandemic, although the year in review is 2019.
“Ther are difficulties in paying back loans. People are paying but the issue of Covid is hampering and impairing productivity therefore people are not active on the market,” he said.
