Former Black Queens goalkeeper Memunatu Sulemana believes her exclusion from the current squad of the senior female team resulted in the team's failure to qualify for the first time for the Nations Cup.
The Queens will for the first time not be present, when the roll call of teams for the 2012 African Women’s Championship is conducted. The Black Queens, thrice losing finalists lost out 8-9 on penalties after 1-1 tie to Cameroon in their second leg qualify last month in Yaoundé.
The Black Queens have appeared at every edition of the biennial championship since its inception in 1998.
But the two time Women World Cup (WWC) finalists Memunatu Sulemana” In the whole Ghana, there is no one like me there is no doubt about that fact, when we were playing for the queens, we do qualify but the problem we had was that we don’t lift the trophy but now, we don’t qualify at all why?"
"The coach said he wants to use the princesses and the maidens to represent the team which is not a bad idea but they lack experience to get the job done. Assuming Kwarasey is ignored in the stars, people will complain but when it happens in the female side, no one is talking about it so I wish Ghanaians give the same attention to the queens ,” he told JOY Sports.
The 34 year old now plays for the police service in Kumasi has featured in 34 matches for the black queens
