General Manager of the Adom Brands under The Multimedia Group Limited, Abdulai Awudu, has been elected unopposed as President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA).
His election took place at GIBA’s 17th Annual General Meeting, held in Kumasi.
Mr Awudu, who joined The Multimedia Group in 2008 to help launch its MultiTV arm and boasts over 20 years of experience in media and content creation, now steps into a key role representing independent broadcasters across Ghana.
Other executive members elected unopposed include Samuel Yaw Asamoah, Muniru Ibrahim, Rauf Abdul Mahama, and Thomas Eshun.
In his remarks, Mr. Awudu thanked the members for the opportunity to serve and outlined his plans to lead the association in the years ahead.
“GIBA has been really powerful when it comes to advocacy, fighting for the rights of its members, and I assure you that the current executive council will continue that and use all our means to ensure that we are protected,” he said.
Mr. Abdulai Awudu added that together with his executive council, they help build business viability.

“A viable business ensures that we are strong, we cannot be manipulated by any power, we can look after our staff well, and get commitment from our staff,” he stated.
He also emphasized that most members of GIBA started as traditional TV and radio stations, but they are aware that the world has completely changed, and digital is giving them competition.
“The executive council and I will ensure that we hold the hands of our members to move them to the digital era,” he said.
Mr. Awudu used the opportunity to encourage other media houses to join the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) for collective interest.
The Vice President of the Association, Thomas Eshun, said that in the year ahead, they will ensure that every member of the association is in good standing.
GIBA’s AGM brought an end to the service of former President, Cecil Thomas Sunkwa-Mills.
